Dow Jones Sustainability Index lists UPM the leader of its industry
UPM has been listed in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 2022-2023 as the only company in its industry. The DJSI indices cover environmental, social and governance aspects of responsibility.“Taking a holistic approach to sustainability is more important than ever. Being recognised with a leadership position in one of the most rigorous and widest sustainability evaluation makes us proud and humble at the same time,” says Sami Lundgren, Vice President, Responsibility, UPM.
Acting on biodiversity loss is today as important as mitigating climate change, and companies play a crucial role in both. “Besides our commitment to UN Global Compact Business Ambition for 1.5°C and actions related to that, we are following closely the discussions and outcome from the ongoing UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15). Our approach to biodiversity has evolved since we started our global biodiversity programme in 1998, and we’ll continue to develop it so that we contribute to the global biodiversity framework that COP 15 seeks to achieve. Since 2022, our forest-related biodiversity targets as well as our CO2 reduction targets are included in UPM’s long-term incentive plan,” Sami Lundgren concludes.
